At some point in our lives, we’ve compared ourselves and our lives to others. Your friend got married before you and you’re wondering, “When will my prince come,” “He’s further in his career than I am. We started at the same time and I should be much further ahead than this”, “They just bought a new house and I’m still in this old house. When is the Lord going to bless me”, “I wish I had long hair like hers”, or “I wish I came from a family with an illustrious pedigree as she did.” It’s so unfair to compare yourself to someone else. Each one of us has our own path to follow, and we may not reach the destination at the same pace as someone else. It becomes frustrating when we try to keep up with paths that were never meant for us in the first place. I have friends that are very successful and have climbed the corporate ladder and they’re making their mark in life. There were times when I felt left behind and thinking I need to do more with my life and leave my own mark. The first thing I had to do was to stop looking at them and what they are doing because they are already walking in their purpose and focus on what I am supposed to be doing and how I can contribute something positive to society. I thought about this and it came to me, “Blogging”. I love to encourage and leave positive words with people. I never want them to leave me the same way they came and what better way to do this than sharing my heart and experiences with the masses. After having this epiphany, I had to take the necessary steps to set my aspirations into motion. When you focus on your own path in life, you begin to tap into your own gifts and strengths. You stop chasing other people’s successes and begin to concentrate on your own journey and where it leads to. The world needs what YOU have to offer. You don’t have to be a carbon copy of anyone else. Do not continue to torture yourself by comparing yourself or your life to other people. The Lord has appointed different gifts and talents to all of us, and once we have identified them, then we can walk in our purpose. So you see, you don’t have to be jealous of anybody because when you look over your life you realize that you have your own blessings, too many to count. God doesn’t make mistakes. Don’t wish to look like anyone else because when the Lord created you he looked at you and said, “This is some good handiwork right here.” Let’s just work on being the best version of ourselves. If you’re believing God for a spouse, that new house, new car, or a new career, remember that the Lord will not withhold no good thing from us. He knows the desires of your heart (Psalm 84:11). God has not forgotten about you. You have so much to offer the world. Rest in God’s timing.
PRAYER: Father, I come to You with sincere gratitude to say thank You for all of Your blessings, and for helping me to realize that I am enough. In Jesus’ precious and holy name, Amen.
